The house is set in 1.8 hectares (4.5 acres) of land, mainly planted with cherry trees, as well as olive trees and a large lawned area with a big pool. It has views south to the Luberon, north to the plateau de Vaucluse, and west to the perched village of Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt, with its church and castle ruins.

The terrace to the front of the house faces south and is shaded with a wisteria-clad pergola. There is a dining table by the ancient well and two loungers.

 

The pool is 10 metres, or 33 ft, across.

The pool is made from what was the spring-fed irrigation basin and keeps its round shape and large dimensions of 10m wide (33ft). Around the pool is lawn and willow trees, with a table and chairs, as well as his n' hers hammocks, in the shade of the trees. There are great views from the pool area, of the Luberon mountain range to the south, and the village of St Saturnin right next door with its ruined castle.

 

Beyond the house is the chapel above the village of Saint Saturnin, which is where the sun sets in summer.

From pool to house is a path with lavender borders, through the cherry orchard. In April the cherry trees are in blossom and in June you have an unlimited supply of cherries to pick. In front of the house is a rose garden on either side of the path.

 

The side terrace provides a shaded spot for breakfast.

To the side, a second eating spot, which is perfect for breakfast as it has morning shade. If you want breakfast in the sun, there is the other dining table in front.

 

The terrace is made with the cobbles from the old threshing floor that was discovered in the ground during excavation work.

For at least 6 months of the year, the terrace acts as the living room, with a wonderful view to the south. The cottage is so well equipped, and only ten minutes walk into a village with amenities, that it is an ideal year-round destination.
