Bastide de Capelongue

"Edouard Loubert's 2-star restaurant. This used to be at the Moulin de Lourmarin, but Loubert moved his outfit to the outskirts of Bonnieux (route de Lourmarin). Tempting and expensive menus, but we opted for the à la carte, and I'm glad we did: we ordered 2 yummy dishes each, and ended up receiving 6 dishes each altogether! Love those complimentary dishes…Bastide de Capelongue is an excellent choice for gastronomic regional cuisine. Bring a solid credit card though."

"Though the food can be quite good and the location wonderful ...especially when you arrive at sunset and can sit on terrace with the view 2 dinners both in 2007 and 2008 were most disappointing. Both were with a group of friends (6 persons). There was even a 3rd try for 4 persons. The attitude that the staff or mgmt had was so discouraging and rude. Our last dinner the food was so delayed in arriving to the table - with no apologies ..we sat down to dinner at 8:00 PM and by 11:00 PM we still had not been offered dessert and any "we are so sorry for so many delays". We would never return there, nor would our friends, and we spend a lot time in the Luberon area and dine out a lot. Sometimes you get only a few chances to captivate your dining audience and by captivate I mean - entertain and appreciate they they have come to experience your restuarant, staff...and you are paying. Can't tell you how baffled we all were at the end of our Summer '07 experience. One of our party actually said to the host "Don't you care about what we think and why we are so unhappy?" Proceed with caution - stick to La Fournil in Bonnieux - they care."

"The view from the terrace is magnificent and the pre dinner cocktails, accompanied by appetizers were delightful. Dinner was most disappointing. The food was bland and relied on only the presentation rather than the substance. The service was haughty bordering on rude. Prices are astronomical when compared to the service and the food quality. We would not recommend this restaurant."
