Accrobranching in the Luberon
Accrobranching is like an obstacle course in the trees. Walkways, rope bridges, swings, nets and zip lines, all strung up between pines trees. Children love this and because the courses graduate from beginners to really tough, there is something for grown-ups too.
This accrobranching centre is callled Passerelles des Cimes and is found on the road into Fontaine de Vaucluse, on the right just before Kayak Evasion.
Although an Accrobranch course looks potentially hazardous, it is after all way up off the ground, if you obey the safety drill at the beginning, you will always have two points of contact between your harness and the cables, so you can’t fall even if you go to sleep.
Obviously this is not suitable for people who are are afraid of heights. There are runs for over-3s, over-5s, and all the rest is for over-9 and over 1.4m in height. If you take on a course too far and get stuck, there is an impressive rescue system where an employee somehow gets to you and lowers you to the ground.
You need to call ahead to book a time, as only a certain amount of people can use the course at one time. And you need to arrive on time so you can take part in the safety briefing. You will probably spend a couple of hours here.
