The most relaxing place in Provence
The bastide is a gorgeous place, outstanding interior design and beautiful landscape. The minute you arrive, you start releasing stress and adopt to the way of life in the Provence. We used the pool a lot and the nice excursions in the Luberon. Plenty of little villages with great restaurants are close by. If you seek for a place to relax this is the place. We will definitely come again next year.
Less than a mile away is the tiny village of Vaugines, with its cafe and little grocery store, so unchanged and picturesque that it was used for filming 'Jean de Florette'. The wonderful village of Lourmarin is full of restaurants and cafes spilling onto the street. Lourmarin is one of the star villages of the Luberon, and is alive year-round, notably on Friday mornings when it hosts a wonderful market. Cucuron is another wonderful Luberon village with all the amenities you need, even a Michelin-starred restaurant. At the centre of the village of Cucuron is its huge water basin surrounded by centuries-old plane trees, which you may remember from the film 'A Good Year'. This is where the weekly market takes place every Tuesday morning.
The location is ideal for both the north and south Luberons. To the north you are 20-30 minutes from other celebrated hill-top villages of the Luberon, like Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Menerbes, Oppede-le-vieux, etc. And to the south are more idyllic Luberon villages like Cadenet and Ansouis. Within 45-90 minutes are the splendid Provence cities of Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles, St-Remy, as well as the Camargue, Les Baux-de-Provence, Marseille, and the Rhone wine trail.
Included in the rates: utilities, bedlinen, towels, WiFi internet, visitor tax, after-stay clean.
To book: 20% booking deposit, with the balance payment due 8 weeks before arrival.
Rental periods: May-September, 1-week minimum from 5pm Saturday to 10am Saturday. Rest of year, 3 nights.
Cancellation: if you have to cancel, we will try to re-book your dates, and refund the amount recovered (minus bank charges).
Maximum occupancy: 8.
Dogs are accepted, subject to owner's permission.
All properties are non-smoking.
Delightful house
The house is set in a very peaceful location. Building set in a large area with plenty of seating of all sorts – benches, movable chairs – I counted about 80 places! So lots of options of where to seat and drink wine/eat/chat depending on weather.
Very comfortable in the hot weather as the building walls were thick; the air conditioning was not intrusive at low speed so comfortable all day, car parking in the shade of trees. delightful pool.
Have a care when walking inside house as solid floors and stairs.
