We were a group of 7 woman celebrating some of our 50th birthdays. This property was in the perfect location. It was easy to walk up the hill to Menerbes. The gardens, pool and charming interior touches were all delightful. The home was clean and well stocked. The beds & linens were comfortable and of high quality. Lovone was easy to contact and very responsive. We easily explored the local hill towns but decided Menerbes was the perfect location with just enough restaurants, shops and bakeries. We all hope to return and will definitely rebook Bastide les amis. I would highly recommend this property.

PAOLO'S VIEW: “A perfect location - the house is in total calm but only 2 minutes' walk into the delights of Menerbes”

The Location
The house is in a peaceful setting only 2 minutes' walk to the centre of Menerbes.

Menerbes rises up like a ship from the sea of vineyards that run along the Luberon valley and is officially one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages of France'. Menerbes has two levels. On the mid-level are restaurants, cafe, bakery and grocery store. And on the top level you can stroll past grand houses with magnificent views to north and south, as well as the Maison de la Truffe et du Vin (House of Wine and Truffles), where you can buy produce and also have lunch in the beautiful garden. Market day in Menerbes is Thursday mornings from April to October.

From Menerbes you can get to the other picture-perfect hill-top villages of the north Luberon within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux and Goult. Within an hour are the must-sees of Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St-Remy, Les Baux-de-Provence and Arles.

Truly magical...

Rated 5 out of 5
3rd June 2026

Two weeks of making wonderful memories with family and friends. The garden is inspiring! Some precious memories were made in your magical garden with our grandson, Charlie. Charlie, at 14 months, adored his home away from home. The four cats captured Charlie’s heart. First thing in the morning and again in the evening, Charlie would shake the bag of food and say “cat, cat”. He won’t necessarily remember this place, but I hope that he will return with us in future years. Our first visit was in the fall of 2019. Different weather but just as fabulous. It is our hope to return but stay a month the next time. The home feels like a warm embrace of an old dear friend. We love the peace of the village. Truly magical. Our friends and family loved the accommodations, pool, gardens, village…all of it.

Perfect Village House

Rated 5 out of 5
19th August 2017

Bastide Des Amis is a beatiful house on the edge of one the most perfect hilltop villages in the luberon. What sets it apart is the attention to detail and level of comfort the owners have created in every area of the properties. We stayed for 2 wonderful weeks and it was the perfect holiday, we loved being able to walk into the village morning and evening, loved the houses and would definitely return.

We felt very privileged to stay here

26th April 2015

In April our family of 10, including my 83-yr-old father and his partner, spent just over 2 weeks in France, and were very priviledged to be able to stay in Maison Blanc and Maison Olive, the 2 adjoining houses on the outskirts of Menerbes. Everything was perfect from the location (3 minutes from the centre of town) to the furnishings which included everything we needed, and more. We had 2 Vito buses so parking was important, but we also wanted to be close enough to the shops for our daily baguettes which we could fetch early every morning. From Menerbes it was a short drive to the Auchan supermarket in Cavaillon for a big grocery shop, to the various Provencal markets and to scenic spots like Mont Ventoux for the Tour de France fans in our family. Although we never saw the owners, the instructions they provided prior to our arrival were spot on, and they were only a call away – we even received instructions and food for the cat which visits regularly. The South Africans will feel very at home amongst the beautiful Carrol Boyes pewter ware. All in all, a wonderful experience from arrival to departure.
