Highly recommended!
Bonnieux is one of these picturesque old villages on the top of hills that characterize the Provencal landscape. I would not be surprised to hear that this house is 250 years old or even more. However, it is beautifully modernized inside, yet keeping the original structure and using appropriate materials faithful to the past. It now offers all facilities you could desire. On top there is a lovely terrace overlooking the valley and the hills beyond. Within few miles you find many similar villages, each with its own history and monuments from the past, and the old township of Apt with many specialized shops, several supermarkets and a large weekly market. And do not forget the nearby ceder forest where the Wind carries a scent of Provencal herbs. Highly recommended!
Close by are other beautiful, perched, hilltop villages: Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux, Menerbes, Goult, etc. all within 15 minutes. From Bonnieux you are by the cleft in the Luberon mountain that gives you access to the south side: more gorgeous villages like Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis and Cadenet to explore, 20 minutes away, and beyond these, the fine city of Aix-en-Provence.

Beautiful village house
The house is wonderful and perfectly located to visit the Luberon. We loved the village of Bonnieux and felt like home.
The view was stunning and we loved our breakfasts and evenings on the wonderful balcony!
Lovely stay in Bonnieux
Have just returned from a 2 week stay (mid April) in Provence including 5 days in the Luberon region.A wonderful trip and we are already thinking of dates for a return visit…. Not because we “missed” something but because the scenery, food and wine and pace of life was so pleasant.Who wouldn’t enjoy fields of olive trees, grape vines and sitting on a terrace sipping wine and eating wonderful cheeses.
Our base in the Luberon was Bonnieux, a very old and charming town. The Friday market brought in some moderate crowds but other than Friday morning it was a very peaceful. Plenty of shops to browse, some nice restaurants, good bakery, a daily market….
We stayed in the Bonnieux House… an equally old and charming home. The kitchen and dining area were at street level with windows that opened to stunning views of the countryside. The kitchen was nicely organized with whatever you might need. And the dining area had two comfortable chairs to relax in front of the windows and a table with seating for 4.
The next floor up was a nice sized bedroom with the same view as the dining area. And an adjacent living area with a nice street view, a TV with French channels and a pull out couch that sleeps 1 or maybe 2 .
The top floor was my favorite given that the weather during our visit was perfect. It had a terrace with these wonderful views… in front of you the surrounding countryside and to either side of you the roofs of Bonnieux. A perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. And this floor also had a very, very tiny bathroom. Perfectly functional, I showered in it daily, but it is small.
The large, modern bathroom was located on the floor below the kitchen. This area also had a single bed and a washing machine.
The host, Christine was wonderful. She responded promptly to any questions we had, provided excellent instructions for the apartment and made certain we knew that the house had stairs, in case we had any mobility issues. We are in our 70’s and had no issues. Use the handrails and watch your step and you will be fine.
In summary, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. A perfect 5 days.
Lovely house in a beautiful village
The house and location were a perfect fit for us on our first visit to Provence. The house is spacious and nicely furnished, with no unnecessary nicknacks, so lots of room for out things. It is also very clean. Christine is responsive and very pleasant to deal with. The village is beautiful and we spent more time just wandering around there than we had planned to. The nearby villages with their cafes and markets are also worth visiting. We especially liked Rousillon.
Thank you Christine; our stay there was all we had hoped it would be.
Unforgetable memories in this beautiful apartment!
We stayed in this beautiful apartment in June and had a magnificent time in Bonnieux. The view from all windows is amazing, the apartment is well equiped and everything is decorated with a lot of thought. We felt like staying in a traditional, Provencial home which made our holiday special (much more original than staying in a hotel!).
The location of the apartment is just perfect. Bonnieux is a cute little village and a great spot for day trips in this truly amazing area. We would love to come back soon, perhaps next time in spring or autumn. Thank you so much Christine for letting us stay in your wonderful place!
