5 star holiday

We’ve had one of our best holidays ever in Castle Grange. The location is stunning – in the garden there’s a 360 panorama of olive trees, cypresses, distant mountains and the neighbouring Chateau (which is well worth visiting). The house, with its high, high ceilings is spacious, cool and beautifully furnished with everything you need – just a pleasure to be there. Unlike a lot of pools, the Castle Grange pool is big enough for a really good swim and for all of us was one of the real pleasures of our stay. Really, it’s all just as the webpage says. A short walk into Lourmarin (more gorgeous views), and the village is very charming (and great for people watching!). There were six of us and we all fell in love with this part of Provence, the Vaucluse. So much to see! There are bikes at the house and several of us were out every day on them. Definitely go and visit Fontaine de Vaucluse, a river town. Geoffrey, the owner, couldn’t have been more helpful. So, a wonderful location in every way and highly recommended.

PAOLO'S VIEW: “Formerly the barn of the chateau of Lourmarin, this is a wonderful summer house with the castle next door and the amazing amenities of Lourmarin 1 minute's walk away”

The Location
The house in a quiet setting 2 minutes' walk from the centre of Lourmarin.

Lourmarin is one of the star villages of the Luberon, characterised by the lively restaurants and cafes spilling onto the street in the centre, with boutiques and food stores in medieval winding streets. It has a beautifully preserved castle to visit, which hosts various events through the year. And under the castle is a great wine cellar for tasting and buying local wines. On Friday mornings, Lourmarin hosts a great weekly market.

Lourmarin is a wonderful base, and from there you are close to other south Luberon villages like Cucuron and Ansouis, and 20-30 minutes from the beautiful hill-top villages of the north Luberon like Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Menerbes, Goult, Oppede-le-vieux, etc. Within 45-90 minutes are the splendid Provence cities of Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles, St-Remy, as well as swimming beaches, the Camargue, Marseille, and the Rhone wine trail.

Happy Memories of Castle Grange

Rated 5 out of 5
3rd August 2025

We stayed at Castle Grange for two weeks in August and had a wonderful holiday. Our group ranged from an 80-year-old grandmother to young adults, and the house suited everyone perfectly. The property is beautiful, with a pretty, well-kept garden and a good-sized pool that we enjoyed daily. Despite very hot weather, the house stayed cool thanks to fans, shutters, and morning ventilation.

The bedrooms were comfortable, the bathrooms spacious and modern, and the kitchen was excellent—our only wish was for a microwave to heat milk for coffee. The cleaner and pool caretaker kept everything immaculate. Geoffrey, the owner, was consistently helpful and friendly, responding promptly to emails.

The location is exceptional: just a short walk from lovely Lourmarin, its cafés, shops, market and chateau. We also enjoyed exploring nearby towns and taking early morning runs through the vineyards.

Happy memories—highly recommended, and we’d love to return.

Perfection in Lourmarin

Our group of 8, 4 couples from Australia, just spent a perfect week staying at Castle Grange in June 2025. The large house was perfect with plenty of space for everyone, huge comfortable living areas for group meals, cooking and relaxing together with four large bedrooms. It was very hot but the house stayed cool and comfortable. The large garden included carparking and lots of space for relaxing in the shade of the Olive trees, playing boules and the big pool was clean and perfect for cooling down after exploring the area, plus amazing views to the castle and town.

The beautiful town of Lourmarin is only a short walk from the house, with plenty of great cafes and restaurants. And dont miss the amazing Friday market. And its a perfect location for exploring nearby villages including Cucuron, Menerbes, Roussilion, Gordes and Bonnieux to name a few.

Thank you to our hosts, we loved Castle Grange and Lourmarin

The perfect stay

We found The Luberon website and were delighted with the choice of properties and responsiveness from Paolo. We were so happy with our selection when we arrived at Castle Grange; the property is spacious and stylish (I’m not sure that the photos do it justice!) It is also in the perfect location, being within a short walk of Lourmarin centre but in a quieter spot, and with beautiful views of the castle and picturesque tower next door. We spent a lot of time in the swimming pool and playing games on the grass outside. A wonderful holiday and big thanks to Geoffrey from making it a perfect stay!

Thanks again

What a wonderful week in Lourmarin! The house was meticulous and so nicely decorated!

The views of town and the chateau were lovely.

The town is a fantastic base to explore the region, but it’s hard to leave the town and/ or house. It’s a village full of life!!!
