Paradise in Provence
We stayed in Eva and Niels beautiful home for a fortnight with our 12 and 15 year old sons. Everything was just perfect and as portrayed in the photographs. The interior of the house is cool in the Summer heat, the bathrooms are spacious and work well, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. There is outside space on both sides of the house so it is easy to find a quite shady spot to read and look out at the beautiful landscape. The house was a very relaxing and stylish place to hang out. It is also very conveniently situated – in a few minutes walk you are right in the centre of Ménerbes. We found Ménerbes to be an excellent base. It has a nice selection of small shops and restaurants and is not too touristy. It was nice to stroll into town each morning and buy some fresh bread and croissants for breakfast and maybe some nice quiche and salad for lunch at the house. There is also an excellent pizzeria with the option to order a takeaway.
Ménerbes is a great base for visiting the other Luberon villages and if you are feeling more energetic it is easy to drive to the beach (around 1 hour 40 mins).
The owners gave us a warm welcome and responded quickly to any requests. We had very little need to bother them as everything in the house worked well.
In summary we had a great holiday and would not hesitate to recommend La Source as the perfect base for a relaxing stay.
Menerbes rises up like a ship from the sea of vineyards that run along the Luberon valley and is officially one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages of France'. Menerbes has two levels. On the mid-level are restaurants, cafe, bakery and grocery store. And on the top level you can stroll past grand houses with magnificent views to north and south, as well as the Maison de la Truffe et du Vin (House of Wine and Truffles), where you can buy produce and also have lunch in the beautiful garden. Market day in Menerbes is Thursday mornings from April to October.
From Menerbes you can get to the other picture-perfect hill-top villages of the north Luberon within 15 minutes by car: Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux and Goult. Within an hour are the must-sees of Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St-Remy, Les Baux-de-Provence and Arles.

A Slice of Heaven
My family and I spent the most glorious week at La Source – it truly is magical. Our days were filled with early morning coffees at the scrumptious café in Ménerbes, lazy afternoons by the pool, and delightful visits to the surrounding villages. The house itself is beautiful, and the outdoor space is an absolute haven. And that infinity pool… unforgettable!
I cannot recommend La Source highly enough – you will not be disappointed. A huge thank you to Eva for her wonderful communication and for ensuring our holiday was perfect.
Wonderful villa, amazing location
We had such a lovely time in La Source. My wife and I stayed here with our 2 daughters and our son & his girlfriend (aged 20 to 27 years old). All of us absolutely loved it – the swimming pool was great to relax at the end of the day or in the morning. The house is extremely well equipped with a kitchen that offers all appliances you can think of (I challenge you to not find what you need). We also enjoyed alfresco dining, overlooking the beautiful lavender fields. Amazing holiday, we’ll be back!
Fabulous location and comfortable home!
This is a wonderful place to spend your stay in the Luberon. Eva and Niels have a comfortable home with a fantastic location. The steps to enter the village are at the end of their driveway! Since it is their home, their kitchen is well-equipped for cooking. The pool is beautiful and even in the hottest days it keeps a refreshing temperature because it is fed by the spring that is just next to the house. The bedrooms are comfortable and it is nice that each is ensuite. To top it all off, there is a lavender field in full view just outside the windows!
Relaxing and Beautiful
Simply put, La Source is idyllic: beautiful views of the Luberon mountains and lush lavender fields; comfortable furniture and mattresses; great pool and patio; even exceptionally strong wi-fi! It was so fully loaded with kitchen supplies and appliances (even a choice of coffee machines!) that we wanted for nothing during our two-week stay. Eva and Niels could not have been more helpful from the first enquiry to our final au revoir. We were there during a late June heat wave and spent most of our time in the pool! The house isn’t air conditioned but it stayed somewhat cool by day—keep those shutters closed!—and portable fans that were available throughout.
Menerbes is a very small and charming town reached from the house on foot in just a few minutes if you are in good shape, slightly longer if you are not. We did not rent a car and were pleasantly surprised by the presence of Uber, which we used for shopping trips, short jaunts and to go to nearby towns for weekly open air markets.
As wonderful as the house is, there are some things to be aware of: The scorching temperatures brought an influx of ants into several rooms; I alerted Eva to this. And there are steps everywhere—inside and out, many without railings. If you have trouble climbing steps, as I do, I’d ask in advance about this. Even with Eva’s warnings, I was surprised at the number. Also, it would have been helpful to have instructions for the TV, microwave and other appliances, though Eva and Niels were always just a phone call away.
In all, it was a relaxing, memorable trip helped by a truly sensational house.
