It is difficult to describe the magic of this property. My family met here for a reunion. For many, it was their first time in France so I wanted to assure that it was very special and Murier de Goult was perfect. The bedrooms were unique, spacious and comfortable (although some of the beds were a bit hard for some in our party); each had it’s own special charm so everyone felt they were getting something special. Each bedroom has it’s own bathroom (bring all of your own toiletries). The master bedroom had doors and windows that opened on opposite sides of the house and the cross breeze was so fantastique. I also really loved the armoire in this room – my clothes looked so much better hanging in this wardrobe!

The living areas were so amazing: we didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy each one! We spent most of our time at the dining area by the pool or on the rooftop deck which afforded amazing views of the valley which were amazingly mercurial depending upon the time of day and the weather. Planning meetings were held in the dining space off the kitchen with windows that opens right on to the street. Although a public street, it is very quiet. We had a sweet cat who invited herself in one day via these open windows. Alas, we couldn’t keep her.

The kitchen is fully functional and came with an assortment of staples which we used and replaced which was very convenient. Juliette, who I worked with, left 2 bottes of wine as a welcome gift including a Grand Viognier from Domaine de Coulet Rouge, a local winery that we later visited. If you are a fan of the Viognier grape as I am, you will be in heaven in this part of France. We hit the farmer’s market in Coustellet, the day after our arrival to stock up but the markets in Goult, provided a source of fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses and patisseries. You will not starve if you remain in Goult for your entire stay.

I cannot say enough about Juliette. We spoke several times before I transferred the money to the owner as I was nervous (being from the states) and could find no recent reviews. Fear not: the process is completely legit. She met us on the day of our arrival, remaining flexible due to travel and communications snafus. She arranged a chef for our first night (highly recommended! Antonio brought truffles for the risotto and peaches from his tree), massages for two people in our group and dinner reservations and countless other things. She was so sweet, knowledgeable and responsive and we ALL loved her dog Tia.

There is so much more I could say but you will have to experience it for yourself.

PAOLO'S VIEW: “ In an amazing village, an amazing house top to bottom with beautiful courtyard pool and wraparound Luberon views from the roof garden”

The Location
The house is in the quiet centre of Goult.

Goult is a little-known gem of a village, with a lovely atmosphere, a good cafe/restaurant on the main square, and several other good restaurants, as well as a beautifully preserved old neighbourhood with bakery, butcher, grocery store, leading up past the chateau to the windmill looking out to the Luberon. It is an ideal base, with everything you need, and not too busy. Goult has a seasonal market on Thursday mornings. The village also has public tennis courts.

The other perched, hill-top villages of the Luberon, like Menerbes, Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, and Oppede-le-vieux are all 10-15 minutes away. The impressive Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and the antiques capital of l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are 20 minutes away, the medieval city of Avignon is 40 minutes, and within an hour or so are Aix-en-Provence, St-Remy-de-Provence, Arles, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux-de-Provence, and the Rhone wine trail.

Friends and Family in Wonderful Goult!

Rated 5 out of 5

Le Murier was the perfect setting for our group of 9! Beautiful home with plenty of beds and baths for privacy but also wonderful common spaces for gathering. The home has so much character, and the pool is divine. Juliette, the concierge, was a pleasure to work with. So responsive. She booked a lovely chef-prepared dinner for our first night in the house and a fantastic, personalized wine tour of Gigondas. The village of Goult is a gem with everything you need right at your doorstep. You will love your time here.

Wonderful House

Such a lovely house to stay at for a large group. There were 9 of us and it never felt crowded, the photos especially of the pool area just don’t do justice to the beauty of it. Great facilities throughout, easy to cater for cooking for a group with a large table in the courtyard right next to the kitchen. Bedrooms were all great, there wasn’t a sense that anyone had lost out in their choice.

Great location for the village which we think is the best place to stay in the Luberon area. Only a couple of minutes to the various restaurants, shops and bars which is a surprise in such a small village, everything is on the door step. But it’s also a good place from which to explore the surrounding villages.

Juliettte was really helpful, communication was excellent and as others have done we had the experience of Juliette booking a chef to come to the house to prepare a meal, highly recommended.

Overall just superb and I’m sure we’ll be back.

Wonderful Villa in a charming village

Our family of 8 spent a week at Murier de Goult in late May. The pictures do not reflect the full beauty and charm of the property. We had so much space to spread out, retreat and relax with multiple living spaces, library, game room. We spent the most time on the rooftop terrace and the poolside courtyard. Juliette the property manager arranged a private chef one night. Each day we stopped by the boulangerie and fromagerie. We enjoyed dinner at La Terrasse and lunch at local cafes. The pizza shop is also excellent. We hope to come back one day.
