A little paradise

Rated 5 out of 5
23rd June 2019

We had an amazing stay at St Esteve. The place is like a little paradise on earth in the middle of Luberon. The cottage is clean, cosy and well equipped with everything you need to feel at home. The property has lovely gardens and a large heated swimming pool which can be used during any season. Alex, the owner of the vineyard and of the property was welcoming us and gave us useful tips on several activities and short trips we did during our stay. She is warm hearted and has a lovely personality. The three dogs, Neri, June and Tina became our companians for the 12 days we were there. Our daughter fell in love with them. We will truly miss everything at the chateau, but will definitely return one day.

PAOLO'S VIEW: “A charming little gite on a wine estate with a/c. shared use of heated pool and tennis court, close to one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages of France'”

The Location
Ansouis is 1 mile away.

Ansouis is officially one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages in France'. The village and its chateau are beautifully preserved, and although this is one of the smaller Luberon villages, Ansouis has a choice of eateries from the village bar to a Michelin-starred restaurant. Also in Ansouis - a bakery and patisserie, and a small grocery store.

Ansouis is surrounded by vineyards and stunning Provence countryside. This is the south side of the Luberon mountain, which means the closest villages include delightful Lourmarin and Cucuron, as well as being 30 minutes from the great city of Aix-en-Provence, and an hour to Marseille and Avignon. You can drive through the Luberon mountain and get to the other celebrated hill-top villages of the Luberon in 40 minutes like Bonnieux, Menerbes, Gordes, Roussillon, Oppede-le-vieux and Goult.

We spent a cozy three weeks snuggled into this gîte, filled with charm, surrounded by vineyards and inspiring vistas of the Luberon mountains.

It’s a blend of rustic and comfort that allowed quiet, restful nights with sunrises waking us through the bedroom window.

Helen is very helpful. She knows the area and pointed us in various directions to explore villages, restaurants, art works and delicious boulangeries.

(We even went to the cinema on her advice. A great suggestion.)

One heads up: internet connectivity is inconsistent.

Located in the middle of a Vinyard, this cozy well-equipped apartment is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty and bounty of the scenic Luberon and its open air markets. The charm of the past combines effortlessly with contemporary comfort expectations.

We were welcomed by Helen and enjoyed tasting and learning about the wine from the chateau.

We had a delightful stay in the holiday accommodation. The house was cosy and had everything we needed. The property is set on a vineyard with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and countryside. There is a wonderful walk to Ansouis through amazing French countryside. This is our second stay and we have just booked again for the Autumn.
