A Slice of Provence Perfection
From the moment we arrived, Villa Gordes exceeded every expectation. If you’re dreaming of an authentic Provençal escape, this is the place.
Unforgettable setting. The villa sits high above the Luberon valley with sweeping views that change beautifully throughout the day. It feels wonderfully peaceful, yet the village of Gordes, considered by many to be the most beautiful village in the world, is just a short stroll or easy drive away.
A sensory experience. During our spring stay, we were treated to the rare delight of a nightingale singing in the middle of the day. All around us, the air was infused with the fragrance of lavender, thyme, and rosemary, giving the house and gardens a uniquely Provençal character.
Comfort & style. Villa Gordes is both elegant and welcoming, decorated in a rustic-chic style that feels timeless. Everything was thoughtfully prepared — from crisp linens and plentiful towels to a well-equipped kitchen and reliable WiFi. The air conditioning and heated pool added to the sense of comfort and care.
Outdoor living at its best. The pool is perfectly positioned for soaking up the view, and the terrace became the heart of our stay. We lingered over breakfasts, enjoyed BBQs at dusk, and watched the sunset with a glass of local rosé. Evenings often ended with pétanque in the court behind the house — a small pleasure that became one of our favorite family rituals.
A base for exploring. Villa Gordes is ideally located for discovering the Luberon and beyond. My wife and daughter loved the markets in Apt, Aix-en-Provence, and nearby villages, bringing home fresh produce and flowers that enriched our meals. One of the highlights was hiking through the countryside to the Abbaye de Sénanque, a beautiful walk to a historic abbey set among lavender fields.
Wonderful hosts. Millie and Richard were responsive, kind, and full of helpful recommendations. Their attention to detail made our stay seamless and memorable.
In summary. Villa Gordes is far more than a place to stay: it’s a place to experience Provence. We left with memories of sunsets over the valley, birdsong in the warm air, market days, scenic hikes, and evenings of pétanque under the stars. We can’t recommend it highly enough, and we look forward to returning.
Gordes is probably the most famous Luberon village, due in no small part to the incredibly photogenic view of it as you arrive. Gordes has a great choice of restaurants, cafes, specialist shops, cultural events, and is alive year-round. On Tuesday mornings the centre of the village around the chateau is taken over by the weekly market. Just outside Gordes is Senanque Abbey, another must-see photo-moment when the lavender is in bloom.
The view from Gordes' high position over the Luberon valley is also spectacular, and you can pick out most of the best hill-top villages of the Luberon, all a short drive away: Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Oppede-le-vieux, Roussillon, Goult. The impressive Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and the antiques capital of l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are 20 minutes away, the medieval city of Avignon is 40 minutes, and within an hour or so are Aix-en-Provence, St-Remy-de-Provence, Arles, Mont Ventoux, Les Baux-de-Provence, and the Rhone wine trail.
Included in the rates: utilities, bedlinen, towels, WiFi internet, visitor tax, after-stay clean. For stays of 2 weeks or more there is a weekly change of bedding and towels.

Summer 2025 - 09-16 August
We had such a great stay at Villa Gordes. Our host was really kind and made us feel welcome right away.
The villa had everything we needed, from a fully equipped kitchen to plenty of space to relax, and even a BBQ which we really enjoyed using in the evenings. The swimming pool was really a plus. Everything was clean, comfortable, and easy, which made our holiday stress-free.
The location is beautiful and peaceful, but still close enough to explore the area. We honestly couldn’t have asked for more and would happily come back again.
A beautiful week in Gordes
We had the most wonderful week here at the end of July. The villa is very comfortable and fantastically well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The villa was very conveniently situated for Gordes, and whilst we enjoyed the restaurants and the beautiful bakery, our highlight was sitting out on the terrace, enjoying the view and eating fantastic Al fresco meals together. We really had time to unwind here. Reading, swimming, listening to music and unplugging from busy modern life in the uk. The hosts were so kind and helpful. One of the best holidays we’ve ever had and we will be back! Merci beaucoup, c’était parfait!
Geat place
We had a great two weeks stay at the Villa Gordes with our whole family. The villa is situated just a short walk from the village of Gordes where we bought our baguette and pain au chocolat every morning. We loved to linger around the pool on the terrace and to have our meals in the shade under the oak tree with a stunning view of the Luberon. We also loved the boules court where we played for hours. The accommodation is very functional, tastefully decorated and also the kitchen is perfectly equipped. And thanks again for the welcome surprise of a stock of wine, beer, eggs, coffee, tea, milk as well as a bottle of the self-produced olive oil. That was very special. There is also a BBQ grill outside which we used a lot. The three sleeping rooms as well as the other rooms were very comfortabel.
We can highly recommend the Villa Gordes as we brought home a lot of great memories.
