Vaugines, with its cafe and little grocery store, is so unchanged and picturesque that it was used for filming 'Jean de Florette'. The wonderful village of Lourmarin is full of restaurants and cafes spilling onto the street. Lourmarin is one of the star villages of the Luberon, and is alive year-round, notably on Friday mornings when it hosts a wonderful market. Cucuron is another star Provence village with all the amenities you need, even a Michelin-starred restaurant. At the centre of the village of Cucuron is its huge water basin surrounded by centuries-old plane trees, which you may remember from the film 'A Good Year'. This is where the weekly market takes place every Tuesday morning.

The location is ideal for both the north and south Luberons. To the north you are 20-30 minutes from other celebrated hill-top villages of the Luberon, like Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Menerbes, Oppede-le-vieux, etc. And to the south are more idyllic Luberon villages like Cadenet and Ansouis. Within 45-90 minutes are the splendid Provence cities of Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles, St-Remy, as well as the Camargue, Les Baux-de-Provence, Marseille, and the Rhone wine trail.
